Lactobacillus MRS Broth was developed by Deman et al. to provide luxuriant growth of Lactobacilli isolated from oral, fecal and other specimen sources. Medium used for the cultivation of Lactobacillus sp. (Alpha Biosciences # L12-104-2Kg)

Description: Lactobacillus MRS Broth was developed by Deman et al. to provide luxuriant growth of Lactobacilli isolated from oral, fecal and other specimen sources.

- Peptic Digest of Animal Tissue ..... 10.0g
- Dextrose ..................................... 20.0g
- Beef Extract ..................................... 10.0g
- Sodium Acetate ........................... 5.0g
- Yeast Extract ...................................... 5.0g
- Tween 80 ...................................... 1.0g
- Disodium Phosphate ........................ 2.0g
- Ammonium Citrate ....................... 2.0g
- Magnesium Sulfate........................... 0.1g
- Manganese Sulfate .................... 0.05g
Final pH: 6.5 ± 0.2 at 25.0°C
* Grams per liter may be adj. or formula supplemented to obtain desired performance
Preparation: Mix 55 grams of the dehydrated medium in one Liter of purified water until evenly dispersed. Heat with repeated stirring and boil for minute to dissolve completely. Distribute and autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
Quality Control Specifications:
- The powder is homogeneous with soft lumps and yellowish beige.
- Visually the prepared medium is clear and dark amber.
- Expected cultural response after 24-48 hours at 35.0°C.

Storage: Store the sealed bottle containing the dehydrated medium at 2 to 8.0°C. Once opened and recapped, place the container in a low humidity environment at the same storage temperature. Protect it from moisture and light. The dehydrated medium should be discarded if it is not free flowing or if the color has changed from the original yellowish beige color.
