Use: Broth medium used in detecting Salmonella sp. in foods and feeds by the accelerated enrichment serology (ES) procedure.
Description: M Broth was developed to enhance the growth of Salmonella and to prevent nonspecific agglutination when the bacteria were used in the serological agglutination test. Mannose is added to the formula to prevent fimbrial agglutination in Salmonella.

- Sodium Citrate ............................ 5.0g
- Sodium Chloride ................................ 5.0g
- Tween 80 ................................... 0.75g
- Dipotassium Phosphate ................... 5.0g
- Ferrous Sulfate .......................... 0.04g
- Magnesium Sulfate............................ 0.8g
- Manganese Chloride ................ 0.14g
Final pH: 7.0 ± 0.2 at 25.0°C

Preparation: Mix 36.2 grams of the dehydrated medium in one Liter of purified water until evenly dispersed. Heat with repeated stirring and boil for minute to dissolve completely. Distribute and autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
Quality Control Specifications:
- The powder is homogeneous with soft lumps and light beige.
- Visually the prepared medium is clear to trace hazy and light amber.
- Expected cultural response after 18-24 hours at 35.0°C.

Storage: Store the sealed bottle containing the dehydrated medium at 2 to 8.0°C. Once opened and recapped, place the container in a low humidity environment at the same storage temperature. Protect it from moisture and light. The dehydrated medium should be discarded if it is not free flowing or if the color has changed from the original beige color.
